Charles A. "Chuck" Borek
Charles A. "Chuck" Borek serves as Of Counsel at DARS and is a member of the Tax Planning and Litigation Group. He has been representing tax clients in Maryland and throughout the United States for almost twenty years. His practice area includes all matters related to state and federal tax issues, including representation of taxpayers before the IRS and in the U.S. Tax Court. Chuck is also a Certified Public Accountant and has served as an Associate Professor of Accounting and Business Law at Prince George’s Community College, as well as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Baltimore. Prior to his association with DARS, Chuck practiced tax and business law, and served as the tax partner in a Bethesda-based CPA firm for five years.
Chuck lectures widely on tax related topics and has given presentations to professional groups in nearly every state. He has also held positions on the boards of several non-profit organizations, including a term as President of the Alzheimer’s Association of Central Maryland and as a member of the Howard County Pension Oversight Commission—a position to which he was appointed to two consecutive terms. His book, Contract Drafting and Review for the Maryland Lawyer, has been cited by the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland, and he has published numerous law review articles and professional monographs.
Chuck received his joint JD/MBA summa cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law where is he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review.
