Eric concentrates his practice representing businesses, health care facilities, medical practices, and other small and large employers in matters involving general business litigation, employment litigation defense, and medical malpractice defense. He also provides counsel and advice to businesses concerning all areas of employment law, and counsel and advice to hospitals and physician practices in matters concerning patient relations, regulatory compliance, and health care related employment matters.
Eric represents employers in a wide range of general business litigation and employment litigation matters in state and federal court, including defense of suits filed under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), and other federal and local civil rights and employment rights statutes. He also works closely with in-house counsel, HR professionals, and executive employees to advise them in all areas of employment law, including employee relations, human resource matters, international employment law, and compliance with the myriad of employment laws and regulations applicable in today’s workplace. He has worked with clients in developing and revising company policies and employee handbooks, including developing anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies, drug and alcohol testing policies, family and medical leave policies, overtime policies, and non-compete and confidentiality agreements. In addition, Eric works with companies, advising them on litigation avoidance, investigating misconduct and corporate non-compliance, and limiting liability in all aspects of employment decisions from hiring to discharge. He also advises and represents executive and upper-management employees in matters of hiring, discharge, negotiation of terms of separation and severance, non-compete and confidentiality matters, and executive compensation agreements.
In matters of health care law, Eric provides counsel and advice to hospitals and physician practices in matters concerning patient relations, patient privacy, medical records handling, HIPAA compliance, and other regulatory compliance matters. He also works with hospitals and physician practices to advise them on employment matters specific to the health care setting. In addition, he represents hospitals and physicians in litigation and administrative proceedings in defense of claims of medical malpractice, violation of patient rights and regulatory violations.
Eric resides in Catonsville. He enjoys spending time with his family, being involved in his kids’ various activities, coaching youth sports, and spending time outdoors hiking, camping, and playing golf.
